Hold on to your hats everybody! Modoc has broken free for a second time! Well, she’s at least been on a getaway. You may have noticed our beloved elephant statues have been missing. Worry not, dear friends. They will return soon. With the help of the students at Wabash High School and the Heartland Vocational School, our adorable, adorned amigos are getting a much needed spruce! After a nice cleaning and a fresh layer of paint, our elephants will return and welcome us all to Modoc’s Market once again. More than just a spa day is required for a Modoc makeover. First, the elephants were taken to the Heartland Vocational School for a deep cleaning. Through rain, snow and sunshine, our elephants have stood stoically and pridefully in the foreground of our storefront for over ten years. Needless to say...they had a few layers of muck! Thankfully, Mr. Johnson and his team of industrious students, were able to scrub, buff and polish our jumbo companions back to a sparkly shine! For their awesome efforts, we’d like to thank Tyler, Michael, Levi and Tanner (pictured left). You are great, and we appreciate it! Next, the mammoth mascots were off to Wabash High School to get a fresh coat of paint. Alongside the art teacher Mrs. Vogel, the students are able to let their creativity “break free”. The high schoolers will brush on their own designs to enhance the elephants’ already beautiful features. Just like Modoc herself, our statues will once again be unique, bold, charming, elegant, and of course...full of moxie! We will be sure to post pictures of all ten revamped pachyderms once they return. Just like you, we have missed our elephants and look forward to them returning. However, all of us could use a getaway now and then. Let Modoc serve as a reminder for you to “break free” every once in awhile...even if it’s just for an hour or two. Maybe even stop by Modoc’s Market to relax, sip coffee, and let the stress and the “layers of muck” melt away. Come and restore your own sparkly shine, and keep a lookout for our elephants!
